The Pioneer Group was established in 1996 (as Pioneer Promotions) by Johnny Davis as a Management and Marketing company for sport and music, responsible for marketing and promotional plans and events for clients who have included: Sony Music, Universal Music, Atlantic Records, Adidas, Puma and Diageo/Guinness.
Johnny Davis
Managing Director
Johnny's involvement in the sporting world began as a fencer. Having competed with the GB Fencing team at the 1988 and 1992 Olympic Games, 5 World Championships, 5 Commonwealth Championships and amassing 120 international caps, he has first-hand experience of sporting events at the highest level. It was this experience that directly made the Cadet & Junior Fencing World Championships such an impressive spectacle. Johnny is also a qualified international standard fencing coach and has developed a fencing academy at the University of Ulster.
Johnny worked in the music industry as a promotions and marketing manager, including the roles of Head of Promotion at Island Records and at RCA Records, being responsible for promotional plans for artists of such stature as U2.
In recent years, Johnny has competed at two European Championships with the Irish Triathlon and Duathlon teams (2007, 2008).
Alice Garrad
Project Manager
Alice Garrad joined the Pioneer Group on a full-time basis in November 2010. She is an ex-England International hockey player and now represents Ulster. She has a huge wealth of experience in competing in and attending major sporting events.
Recently, Alice completed her Masters Degree in Sport Management at the University of Ulster and also completed a Sport Science Degree at Birmingham University.
